October 1-31
Cosley Zoo’s Pumpkin Fest
Cosley Zoo, 1356 Gary Ave., Wheaton
Come see the animals in the crisp fall air, listen to the squeals of excitement from the children conquering the straw pyramid or finding their way through the corn stalk tunnel, and take in the thousands of pumpkins scattered on the zoo’s lawn. Find apples, gourds, pumpkins, cider, cornstalks, and various sizes of straw bales to purchase and take home. Plus children’s rides will be available. All ages. Regular admission and hours apply.


October 14
Haunted Touch-a-Truck & Pumpkin Patch
Stuart Sports Complex, Route 30 and Griffin Drive, Montgomery
Get behind the wheel of some of the spookiest vehicles around. Kids are invited to wear their costumes and sit behind the big rigs decorated for Halloween! Afterwards, take home a pumpkin. All ages. 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. $10 (R)/ $15 (N).



October 14
Green Halloween
Downtown Oak Park, 1010 Lake Street, Oak Park
Follow the Green Pumpkin Trail to collect healthy, eek-o-friendly treats at participating businesses! Costumes are welcomes! Enjoy a free showing of Minions at Lake Theatre; Purchase and decorate a pumpkin; dance at the Monster mash with music & popcorn samples; and Meet Moana, Elena of Avalor & Captain America & more! Ages 3-8. 11am-3pm. FREE.


October 20
Things That Go Bump In The Night
Emily Oaks Nature Center, 4650 Brummel, Skokie
Meet some of the fascinating but often misunderstood critters of Emily Oaks! This popular event is intended to be fun and informative - NOT frightening. As you're guided along the trail, you'll venture to three places - the cave, forest, and marsh - and hear from the animals that live there why these are cool, fantastic, and magical places! Your visit will end at a campfire featuring snacks and songs. Purchase tickets online in advance - (847) 674-1500, ext. 2500. All ages. 6:30 - 8:30 PM. $5/person.

All Hallow's Eve
Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St., Naperville
Experience two of the darkest nights of the year with 12-acres of haunting creatures, eerie entertainment and must-see horrors. Like a haunted house on steroids, this one-of-a-kind experience brings some of the scariest literature of the past, present and future to life. Meet the lost souls of the dead in a haunted happening you won’t forget. Our historic buildings are turned into Frankenstein’s Laboratory, a Victorian Insane Asylum, a Torture Dungeon, Journey through the Underworld and so much more. Ages 8 and up. 6:30 PM-10:00 PM. $20.

Arts in the Dark Halloween Parade and Celebration
Maggie Daley Park, 337 E. Randolph St., Chicago
Arts in the Dark is a magical nighttime Halloween parade that celebrates Chicago's magnificent and diverse cultural community by drawing together world-renowned institutions as well as guilds of aspiring artists in every field. After the parade is the official family after-party, with a Halloween movie on the lawn, Trick-or-Treating in the Play Garden, late night Mini Golf*, spooky games, prizes and more at the climbing wall and Skating Ribbon. All ages. 4-10pm. Fees for some activities.



October 21
Spooky Pooch Parade
Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe
Cleverly costumed canines march the parade route to celebrate Halloween. Spectators are invited to line the parade route for a barking good time. Paid registration required for all dogs entering the garden. Costume Contest categories include Best Costume Overall, Best Dog/Owner Costume, Best Puppy in Costume for dogs ages 1 and under in people years, Best Senior in Costume for dogs ages 10 and older in people years, and Best Horticultural Interpretation. All ages. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Before Oct 20: $15 member/$20 nonmember.

Boo! at the Zoo
Brookfield Zoo, First Avenue and 31st Street, Brookfield
Little ghosts and goblins of all ages are sure to have a howlin’ good time! Our not-so-scary and fun-filled event has something for the entire family to enjoy! Activities include Halloween Crafts, Haunted Hayrides, a Creepy Cowboy Carousel, Decorate a Spookie Cookie, Scarecrow Building, a Costume Parade and more. All ages. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Regular admission.

Wonder-een...Boo!
Wonder Works Children's Museum, 6445 West North Avenue, Oak Park
We are proud to present our First Annual Wonder-een Boo! Family Fundraiser benefiting Wonder Works Children's Museum. Come dressed in your Halloween costume, enjoy snacks and refreshments from some of your favorite restaurants! 10th Annual Spooktacular Halloween Party

Day of the Dead - Painting at Eugene Field

Take part in a Day of the Dead Workshop featuring Mixed Media Painting. Participants will engage in painting a Day of the Dead theme on a 16 x 20 inch canvas using different mediums such as (but not limited to) acrylic/spray/fabric paints, felt, stencils and paper. A Night Out with Dracula at Olympia

Brick-or-Treat
LEGOLAND® Discovery Center, Streets of Woodfield - 601 N. Martingale Road, Schaumburg
Families can spend time together experiencing spook-tacular Halloween fun at LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Chicago during its annual Brick-or-Treat celebration! The popular, kid-friendly Halloween party features daily Halloween-themed activities including a monster MINILAND takeover, spooky scavenger hunt, character meet and greets and more. EEK-o-Friendly Halloween!

BatFest
Batavia Riverwalk, Batavia
BatFest is Batavia’s annual Halloween themed family event attracting over 2,500 ghouls. BatFest includes, downtown Trick-or-Treating, Mothers’ Club Parade, pumpkin bowl, contests BatArt and games for free family fun. The event takes place around downtown and at the Batavia Riverwalk and Peg Bond Pavilion from 10am to 2pm. All ages. FREE.

Kids' Science Labs Annual Halloween Party
Kids Science Labs, 1500 N. Kingsbury, Chicago
Kids Science Labs’ Annual Halloween Party is back by popular demand! Kids and parents alike can join us for spooky fun as all of our centers are transformed with cool demos and hands-on activities. Every room will have its own unique science that brings to life our "Haunted House of Science" theme inspired by the movie Despicable Me 3. All ages. 3pm-5pm. $12 - REGISTER ONLINE.

A Harry Potter Halloween Party
The Laboratory, 2349 W. North Ave., Chicago
Hogwarts staff and fellow ghosts will be throwing this unique Halloween party with a science twist at The Laboratory. Come in costume (or not). Partygoers will learn lessons in ghostdom, and maybe see an explosion. Or two. Or three. Includes a pizza dinner, science snacks, games and/or Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone viewing. 6:15-9pm. Monster Bash at The Exploritorium

Día de los Muertos Xicágo Celebration
National Museum of Mexican Art, 1852 W. 19th St., Chicago
Bring your friends and loved ones to celebrate Día de los Muertos as we transform the Museum and surrounding area into a beautiful work of art. To commemorate this special day, guests will enjoy face painting, art activities, ofrenda (altar) demonstrations, live musical performances, and Pan de Muerto (traditional Day of the Dead Bread). This year we are thrilled to be joined by Fernando Sic (Rimiyoho), who will create live animations projected on the Museum’s exterior. All ages. 3-8pm. FREE.

Logan Square Halloween Parade

Annual Logan Square Halloween Parade led by Chicago's own Mucca Pazza. The 14th Annual Logan Square Halloween Parade will kick-off in Logan Square this year! Join us to promenade down the boulevard led by Chicago's own Mucca Pazza. All ages. 5:00 PM - 5:30 PM. FREE.

Giant Pumpkin Drop & Smash
Siegel's Cottonwood Farm, 17250 S. Weber Road, Crest Hill
Each year Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm takes any leftover pumpkins from its Annual Pumpkin Weigh Off and drops them from a crane high in the air - some weigh up to 800 pounds! Come out for the day, and also enjoy over 30 attractions, including a 15-acre cornfield #FlyTheW corn maze honoring the World Series Champion Cubs, 5 play lands, pet and feed farm animals, zip lines, Haunted Barn, Siegel's 125' Sports Zone, Corny Crib, hay rack ride to the U Pick Pumpkin Field and more. Halloween Fun at Shedd
Shedd Park, 3660 W. 23rd St., Chicago
Come out to Halloween fun at Shedd Park. Find ghosts and goblins, dance and treats all throughout the Fieldhouse. It is free and open to all ages 6-16. Must bring high school ID. Co-sponsored by the Shedd Park Advisory Council. The movie, Boo! Madea Halloween has been added to the line-up of Halloween fun. Ages 6-14. 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM. FREE.
