The first Haunted Houses listed are perfect for tots and kids who don't want too much of a scare. Scroll down and find Haunted Houses with a more extreme fright factor, most recommended for older kids, 13 and up. If you're not sure about the "fright" factor of a particular Haunted House, please call ahead of time to make sure you know what you're getting your little ones into!

Bengston's Haunted Barn and Fun Barn

Bengston's offers two options for kids. First, the Haunted Barn for older kids offers thrills and chills as they wander through a scary and completely automated barn. The Haunted Barn is rated (PG13). No one under the age of 12 is admitted without being accompanied by an adult, due to content and scare factor. For the littler ones, or those who prefer not to be scared, they can have fun and take a leisurely stroll through the amusing, friendly Fun Barn.
Admission: Haunted Barn and Fun Barn are included with general admission. M-Th $9.99, Fri/Sat/Sun and Columbus Day $13.99, 2 and under free.
Hours: Daily 10am - 8pm
Ages: Fun Barn is for all ages, the Haunted Barn is for the kids who are ready for a scare and is rated (PG13) - under 12 only admitted with adult.
Goebbert's Pumpkin Farm Haunted House - Hampshire

Take a walk through this Haunted House and experience twist and turns, and be ready for some thrills and chills. This haunted house is appropriate for school aged children.
Admission: Monday - Friday $12; Saturday, Sunday and Columbus Day $15. 2 and under free. Haunted House included with admission.

Part of their larger Fall Festival, this 12 room Haunted House is designed for school age children - but make no mistake, it’s scary — so be ready.

Fear City Kids Fest

Fear City, normally a super scary haunted house, offers an all-ages fun fest with non-scary tours of the haunted houses on these two special days. The fun includes a specially guided tour of the haunted house, games, face painting, storytelling, a bouncy house, candy, food, and fun - all indoors.

Frightmare Haunted House
7759 S. Harlem Ave., Burbank
Frightmare Haunted House is a two-story dark and scary maze that visitors must get through without becoming a "permanent" cast member of the Living Dead Players. Frightmare is part of Haunted Trails, a year-round Halloween-themed family entertainment park that offers spooky go-karts, rides and games. If your group of 15 or more would like to plan a special "lights on" event, you can call 708-598-8580 X 105.
Hours: Columbus Day 3-10 pm, Sunday thru Thursday 6–10 pm, Fridays and Saturdays 6–11 pm.
Ages: Recommended for ages 10 and up; under 10 permitted with adult supervision.
Haunted House at Sheridan

Have fun and get scared all at the same time at this year's spooky Haunted House. This is an event from the Chicago Park District.

"Nightmare at the Terrace" Haunted House
Gale Moore Park, 7446 West 115th Street, Worth
October 10-12, 17-19, 24-26. Lights-on Matinees October 16 and 25.
The nightmare begins the moment you step into the Terrace Centre and does not stop until you weave your way through 12+ rooms of night terrors. There will be a special "Lights On" edition of the "Nightmare at the Terrace" Haunted House letting the younger ones or more faint of heart see the spookiness that resides within, in the bright light. Actors will not be popping out, but will be greeting the patrons and handing out candy.
Dates/Times: Lights-On Matinees Oct. 16 4-6pm and Oct. 25 2-5pm. Regular event October 10-12, 17-19, 24-26 from 6-10pm.
Admission: $8 per person, $2 for Lights On matinees.

This Haunted House offers a FREE lights on Kiddie Matinee on Saturday, October 25th from noon-3pm. You are requested to bring a non-perishable donation for the local food pantry.

Featuring a "Lights On" Haunted House for the little ones on October 18 and 25 from 11:30am-2pm. Guests will wind their way through a maze of creepy rooms, featuring crazed butchers, chainsaw maniacs, and ghoulish monsters. Around every dark corner will lurk a new horror- making this a Halloween season you will not soon forget.
Hours: 7-10pm, "Lights On" is 11:30am-2pm on October 18 and 25 only.

This haunted house is a fundraiser that benefits school district 202's Foundation for Excellence. The family friendly haunt is an all ages events, and your bravest little ones are safe in our village as none of our scary monsters come out until 6pm. The scarier Full Haunt is from 6-10.
Admission: $10 for full haunt, Family Friendly Haunte is $5, free for kids 5 and under.
Hours: Full Haunts 6-10pm; Family Friendly Haunts 2-5pm.
Ages: Full Haunt rated PG-13, recommended for kids over 10. Family Friendly Haunt is for all ages.
