Find a kid-friendly Haunted House and get ready for a good scare! Our list includes the top family friendly Haunted Houses in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. The first Haunted Houses listed are perfect for tots and kids who don't want too much of a scare. Scroll down and find Haunted Houses with a more extreme fright factor, most recommended for older kids, 13 and up. If you're not sure about the "fright" factor of a particular Haunted House, please call ahead of time to make sure you know what you're getting your little ones into!

Bengston's Haunted Barn and Fun Barn

Bengston's has a haunted experience for kids of all ages. The Haunted Barn lets kids experience thrills and chills as they wander through the scary and completely automated barn. For the littler ones, or those who prefer not to be scared, they can have fun and take a leisurely stroll through the animated and amusing Fun Barn.
Admission: Haunted Barn and Fun Barn are included with general admission. M-F $9.99, Sat/Sun $11.99, 2 and under free.
Hours: Daily 10am - 8pm
Ages: Fun Barn is for all ages, the Haunted Barn is for the kids who are ready for a scare.

Goebbert's Pumpkin Farm Haunted House - Hampshire

The Haunted House at Goebbert's Pumpkin Farm is part of their larger Fall Festival. The haunted house is geared toward school age children, so it's a little bit scary but on a level that's age appropriate, with no live actors or gory scenes.
Admission: $10-$15. Haunted House included with admission.
Hours: Daily 9am - 6pm, Halloween 9am - 3pm.

Spooky Barn Family Haunt at Dollinger Farm

The Spooky Barn Family Haunt at Dollinger Farm is fun for the whole family, and is not meant to be scary. Come see where the ghosts and goblins live - and if you're very quiet, you won't wake them up! The Spooky Barn is creepy but not gory, and is appropriate for the whole family!

Fables Studios "Carnivale"

An all new Interactive Haunted Sideshow. Step back in time and discover the remains of this twisted carnival of horror, guaranteed to make you laugh and SCREAM. "Carnivale" was forced into hiding underground in 1913, Sealed in for eternity. Now, exactly 100 years later, construction in tunnels has exposed the long hidden evil within. This Halloween ... come one and all and test your luck ... Can you survive the games of "Carnivale"?
Hours: Matinee is October 31 4-7pm. For all other dates doors open 7pm, last ticket sold at 11:30pm.
Admission: October 31 Matinee is $5. Regular admission $10.

"Nightmare at the Terrace" Haunted House
Gale Moore Park, 7446 West 115th Street, Worth
The nightmare begins the moment you step into the Terrace Centre and does not stop until you weave your way through 12+ rooms of night terrors. There will be a special "Lights On" edition of the "Nightmare at the Terrace" Haunted House letting the younger ones or more faint of heart see the spookiness that resides within, in the bright light. Actors will not be popping out, but will be greeting the patrons and handing out candy.
Dates/Times: Lights-On Matinees Oct. 17 4-6pm and Oct. 26 2-5pm. Regular event October 11-13, 18-20, 25-27 from 6-10pm.
Admission: $8 per person
Ages: 8 and up; Lights On Matinee for all ages.

Psychosis Haunted House Kids Matinees
200 N. Spring Street, Elgin
October 12 & 13, and 26 & 27
This super scary haunted house has special Kids Matinees on October 13-14 and 27-28 from 1pm - 3pm. During the Kids Matinees, your family can do a low scare, no gore walkthrough. Families are encouraged to bring flashlights. And there's a candy giveaway at the end!
Admission: $7, $5 at door if you donate a can of pet food for The Buddy Foundation, a no-kill animal shelter in Arlington Heights.

Scream Scene

Featuring a "Lights On" Haunted House for the little ones on October 19 and 26 from 11:30am-2pm. Guests will wind their way through a maze of creepy rooms, featuring crazed butchers, chainsaw maniacs, and ghoulish monsters. Around every dark corner will lurk a new horror- making this a Halloween season you will not soon forget.
Hours: 7-10pm, "Lights On" is 11:30am-2pm (Only Oct 19 and 26)
Admission: General Admission: $9 per person, Oct. 24 Discount Day: $7 per person. The "Lights On" is $3/Child, $2/Adult.

13 Terrors Haunted House
Theater on the Lake, Lake Shore Drive and Fullerton, Chicago
Sitting feet away from the water of Lake Michigan, 13 Terrors, takes place in what used to be a sanitarium and today is known as Theater on the Lake. The popular lakefront theater venue is transformed into an eerie, haunted house that is taken over by evil clowns, ghosts, monsters and more. Free parking is available at Diversey Harbor lot - located north of Fullerton on Cannon.
Dates: October 18-20 and 24-26,
Admission: $10 per person
Hours: 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM

A darkness, long forgotten, has been unleashed deep within the bowels of the earth, beneath the old McClindon place in unsuspecting Channahon. An unspeakable portal to horror so deep and black, it is known only as... ABYSS.
