Curiosity. Community. Diversity. Immersed in nature and guided by trained environmental educators, campers ages 6 to 17 discover the beaches, prairies, dunes and woodlands of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore while bog stomping, bug hunting, night hiking and more. At Dunes Learning Center, campers experience native and historic cultures, explore rivers, trek national park trails, cool off in Lake Michigan and sing around the campfire with new friends while building skills and memories that last a lifetime.
Located in the heart of the dunes, less than an hour from Chicago, Dunes Learning Center's 63 acre campus offers campers a truly unique opportunity to learn from, and be inspired by, their national park. One of fewer than 20 residential environmental learning centers working in formal partnership with the National Park Service, Dunes Learning Center provides immersive, multi-day residential educational experiences throughout the year. Facilities include a large multi-purpose dining and activity hall and ten modern, climate-controlled cabins that sleep seven campers and one counselor each.
2017 summer camp offerings include overnight and day options, each providing young adventurers with activities that inspire curiosity and environmental stewardship:
