Held at the Menomonee Club,
The Girl and I's summer camps empower girls 6-12 years with leadership and confidence skills essential for their long-term success. These skills are developed through experiential projects rooted in a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) curriculum that enhances their aptitude as critical thinkers, problem solvers, team leaders and collaborators. In these week-long camps, girls will build bonds with other like-minded girls and will have fun exploring their potential, while seeking inspiration from successful women role models.
Location: The Menomonee Club, 1535 N Dayton St, Chicago, IL
Camp timings: 9:00am to 3:00pm with after-care available till 5:00pm
Women of Invention I: August 6-10th, 2018
It may come as a surprise to girls that the inventor of Barbie was a woman. And so was the inventor of the first dish washer. And it was a woman who commercialized the first chocolate chip cookie. Using the backdrop of a successful woman inventor for each day, the girls will be challenged to create their own inventions, product launches and business plans using a variety of techniques, platforms and materials such as Engineering Design Process, Google Suites, arts and craft supplies etc. They will learn that girl inventors are smart, creative, fun and unstoppable!!
Women of Invention II: August 13-17th, 2018
This week will feature additional women inventors including superstars that have redefined how we consume media, fashion and news in the current age. From the founders of Project Runway, to the CEOs of YouTube and Facebook, these dynamic women will be the backdrop to inspire our girls to push the limits of their own inventions in a week full of creativity, collaboration and discovery! They will build apps, come up with their own technological inventions and build the next generation product designs that will impact the way we are currently living our lives.
