At Lillstreet Art Center, young artists can design their own creative summer in the arts of ceramics, photography, jewelry, drawing, printmaking, textiles , and so much more. We have over 50 different camps to choose from including specialty camps - there's something for artists of every age and skill level.

Here are some of the camps we offer this summer:

Ages 3 - 5 years
Let's travel back 2.5 million years and discover what the Jurassic period was all about. We'll uncover the mysteries of dinosaurs and plants that came in different sizes, shapes and colors - and we'll make multimedia art along the journey!

Ages 6 - 8 years
Learn about Chicago’s rich history and its diverse neighborhoods through art, music, food and culture. We will create mosaics, paint to music, construct homes and buildings in clay, collage Lake Michigan and much more. Every day is a new project celebrating one of the 77 neighborhoods in this great city. On Tuesday, campers will get to explore the Chicago History Museum.

Ages 9 - 11 years
This dynamic camp will teach you all the important steps that go into making a film — from writing and directing, to acting and editing, to costume and set design. This full-day camp will leave plenty of time for creating while also giving students a comprehensive and exciting introduction to the history of film. Lillstreet will provide cameras.

Ages 10 - 13 years
Hungry for some fun? This camp combines ceramics and metalsmithing. You'll hand build your own bowls and plates out of slabs of clay. Then you'll learn how to cut and shape forks, knives and spoons. On Friday, we feast!

Ages 12 - 14 years
Do you have drawings or designs that would look great on a T-shirt? You'll develop your own individual logos, drawings and clever sayings and screen print your own one-of-a-kind gear in our textiles studio.

Ages 12 - 14 years
Can't quite find that perfect outfit that sets you apart from the rest? Define yourself and make your own! Learn to sew, design and repurpose outfits from clothes you already have or from thrift-store finds. This week ends with a fashion show!

Ages 14 - 18 years
Using both soft and hard waxes for building and carving, artists will create rings, charms, pendants and even small sculptures. We start by making a plaster mold around our wax models, burn the wax out in a kiln and cast our treasures in bronze. Silver will be available for an additional fee.

Choose from a variety of options to ensure your artist gets an experience that coordinates with your schedule. Full and half-day camps are available as well as early-drop off, aftercare and afternoon add-ons.
